Susan grew up in the business working side by side with her mother who for over thirty years owned a flower shop in Maynard. After graduating from Stockbridge School of Agriculture, where she studied everything from greenhousing to landscape design, Susan went to work at the Fanueil Hall Floral Shop. It was here that she got her experience working with corporations and arranging for weddings. After five years, Susan opened her own shop, Burlington Florist at 55 Winn Street in Burlington, Mass.

Susan came to us via an unusual route. One night a couple years ago, she had dinner at the Pillar House. And as is the custom, the server was to present her with a rose at the end of her meal. However, we were out of roses. The server was very upset and apologized over and over to her. Susan's response to the server was, "I could care less, I'm a florist. I have roses all the time." The rest, as they say, is history. She has been a wonderful addition to our Pillar House family.
