Mother's Day

It has been 26 years since The Pillar House has been open for Mother's Day. We have had so many requests from our loyal guests that we have decided to honor them and open for this special day. We are announcing it to our news letter subscribers so that they will have the first opportunity to make their reservations. While reviewing the seating charts with our Dining Room Manager, Nancy Monaghan, I was reminded of how this was done back in the fifties. My mother, Carolyn Larsen, who many of you still remember, was responsible for setting up and organizing the seating charts. We are still using the same system today to manage the reservations on holidays. My mother is also responsible for many of the subtleties you experience while dining at Pillar House. She and my father opened Pillar House in 1952, but she was the one who set the tone in the front of the house for gracious dining. I will be remembering her on May 9th and will strive to have the quality of our service up to her standards.

Bert Gill and his staff have created another outstanding menu for the new season. I am especially excited about the presentation of our fresh halibut with russet crust. I look forward to visiting with many of you this spring.
