Friends of the Pillar House

"Each week the Pillar House bestows on me a few moments of refuge from the demands of my schedule. It fortifies me with wonderful delicious sustenance while being surrounded by kind attendants who see to my comfort and care for my whims. Smiles and nods of appreciation are exchanged by all. In today's lingo one would describe dinner at the Pillar House as an 'awesome' experience! What would I be without the Pillar House? Probably a size 12...but alas!" This quote from Loryne H. Koebele made us all smile.

Dick Lown is a regular guest at the Pillar House and uses the facilities for both business and social activities. "After six years, I have come to view the Pillar House almost as a private club where I am treated like a member. My firm uses the private dining rooms on many occasions for business and workshops. The service and food are always impeccable. The bar is delightfully comfortable and bartenders and staff are always attentive. The final reason for my fondness for the Pillar House is that I met my wife Moira there two years ago and it is our favorite place to meet and unwind after a long day." Dick and Moira are shown with Shawn and Kathleen Bragdon who had their rehearsal dinner at the Pillar House two years ago.

Linda DeSousa and Ken Binetti are the newest friends of the Pillar House and simply believe that "this is the best place to have a romantic dinner."

Bill and Betsy Leitch are long time friends of the Pillar House and visit us frequently to partake in the Wine Tasting Dinners, the Chef's Table and Cooking Classes. Betsy is our staff photographer at most of these occasions. They recently made changes to their schedules in order to experience a "Memorable Morel Meal" at the Chef's table. The following is a salute written by Bill that was much too special not to print in its entirety. "The Chef's Table is a window in an artist's studio. The Chef a modern Impressionist, employs a palette of fresh greens, sauces of umbers and browns, a splash of tomato accent red, and the opalescence of fresh fish. The canvas is the frosty white fine china, the colors finished individually by the Chef as the plates are passed to servers moving in a quiet ballet through the studio to the restaurant gallery. At the Chef's Table you see the composition take shape, observing close up the deft passing of quiet orders, and experiencing the aromas and sounds of culinary art. We highly recommend this sitting to understand the creative process of a great restaurant."

The Dohanian family has a legitimate claim to being part of the Pillar House family for even longer than Patrick Dubsky. A holiday would not be a holiday without them seated in the Executive Room. Rachel Dohanian says, "Let's go to the Pillar House for dinner, always puts a smile on my face. I know when I reach the mansion on Route 128, I will be received warmly by the hostesses, the wait staff will be amicable, the wine will be poured perfectly, the food presented sensuously, the taste gastronomically perfect, and the dessert delicious delight. The Dohanian family has celebrated many important occasions in the beautiful rooms of the Pillar House. There we have entertained guests from America and overseas, and when they return to Boston they request to go there again because they, like us, feel comfortable in the environment. We do honor the management's new hours, although we miss those wonderful lunches. The wine tasting dinners, the holiday brunches, and a special opening to celebrate Mother's Day so my daughters and I could share the day together have kept our family tradition of making every meal at the Pillar House a special event!"

We thank these friends for taking an active role in the Pillar House and in this newsletter, and encourage all of you to send in your stories and/or comments.
